We were lucky enough to catch up with style & staple Queen Erin Maxwell ahead of the colder months, and we’ve got all her tips and tricks on how to nail your winter wardrobe this season.

Thanks so much for featuring Erin! Can you tell us a bit about yourself, Erin Maxwell Creative (EMC) and your blog Love Shop Share (LSS)?

I started by blog 8 years ago as an outlet to share my love of fashion and back then sharing my shopping and style finds. I left my job in Fashion to start a family and needed to stay connected. There was no Instagram or social media marketing back then so our voice was in our blogs. A self-taught photographer over the years finding that to be my passion so creating content and telling stories through visuals was what I found I had a talent for, and mostly that I love it. I am about to rebrand and start a new chapter for the blog which is an extension of EMC, a content and digital creative company. Mum of three amazing kids and wife to an amazing man, Nick. My rocks.

In the words of Jon Snow, winter is coming. What are your top 3 clothing essentials for this year’s colder months in style, comfort and warmth?

An absolute essential is a really well cut blazer which is the perfect layering piece under all of your coats and jackets. My check blazer will work hard this winter.

A shearling jacket or leather jacket with a sterling lining. Warm and such a great addition to get that layered look with the different fabrications.

Black mid heel ankle boots. Perfect staple. Nothing wrong with a classic.

What’s your own go-to winter style and in dressing your gorgeous babies?

Layering for life! Winter is my favourite season as that’s when fashion can really come forward. I love coats and layering jackets. There is something so chic about a longer length coat in an outfit whether its with trainers or heeled boots.

For the babies – the boys get upsized in their clothes always to get a longer line top. Puffer jackets and Doc Martin boots on rotation for everyone.

Milla adds tights with her skirts and dresses and has some seriously cool faux fur coats and shearling jackets.

Do you have any tricks to layering?

Be careful of your sizing. If you layer everything oversized you will look like you are over the weight at the airport checkin and had to put on everything you own on to downsize.

Shirts and tees are great as you can tuck and style them as the base layer then build from there.

Going off winter collections and fashion week trends, what do you think will be the statement piece this year?

White boots are having a serious moment. Even though they are staples Checks are a must in your wardrobe. I am a classic kind of girl so for me nailing for your denim pieces and finding really well fitting blazer and staple items are what make a statement.

Jeans can be a constant battle when finding the right cut and fit. What is your go to style and trusting brand? Do you have any tips for our readers in choosing jeans?

Absolutely! Jeans are the base in the capsule wardrobe and when you get it right its a game changer. I love Nobody Denim. Made here in Melbourne and each pair is individually crafted. I have a booty and finding the right shape and fit in a more ridged denim can be hard. I have three pairs of Nobody (the Arlo my current favourite). Bassike, Goldsign (The New Trend) and Levis all offering amazing fits and are experts in the denim game.

Is there such a thing as ‘too much faux fur’?

Yes! I wear pieces like a faux fur jacket as a statement item paired back with staples. I think it looses its effect if its competing with lots of trend pieces all at once. Keep it as the hero.

Lastly, if you were to choose one must-have item this winter – what would it be?

A beautiful wool longer line check coat. Will last the seasons and is a staple in the wardrobe. Country Road has one or Luxe from Georgia Alice at The Undone.

Thank you so much for featuring Erin, excuse us while we go shopping…
